Lalaking tinambangan, nanakawan
GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite–Anim na hindi nakilalang kalalakihan ang tumambang at nangholdap sa isang lalaki, bandang 10 ng gabi, Agosto 16, 2009.
Kinilalang si Aldwin R. Capili, 23 anyos na biktima, residente ng Kanutuhan 11 San Francisco Gen. Trias ang nagreport dakong 11:14 ng gabi sa tanggapan ng Pulisya ng General Trias.
Ayon dito, nglalakad diumano siya sa madilim na parte ng Brgy. Kanutuhan 11 pauwi ng bahay habang nagte-text, nang biglang may dalawang lalaki ang lumapit at umakbay sa kanya. Buong akala ni Aldwin ay kakilala lamang niya, laking gulat na lang nito ng may maramdamang matulis na bagay ang nakatutok sa kanyang tagiliran at nagdeklarang holdap.
Binalak ng biktima na manlaban sana ngunit hindi lang pala dalawa kundi anim ang mga ito na nasa iba’t ibang puwesto lamang.
Nilisan ng grupo ang biktima tangay ang pitaka na naglalaman ng driver’s license at Php 1, 320 na pambayad sana sa inuupahang bahay. Nalimas din ang Nokia 1100 cellphone unit na hawak nito ng mga oras na iyon.—Kimberlyn Rodil

Must be read Epistle
Beloved youth of the Philippines,
It has been two millenniums since Jose Rizal told our realm that kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan. Yes, hopes of our nation rely on your hands. It is like clutching a ball of prophesy and you have nothing to do but to keep it from falling. One mistake move and it will break into pieces.
What the youth holding today is the future of our country, our motherland that is striving to rise from plunging in the mud of poverty and catastrophe. You have the power to amend this vicious fact about our nation. In fact, you can even make it sinking deeper, deeper, but in the sea of healthiness and lavishness.
Now that national election is nearer, to vote is to amend and to amend is to vote. You, as the holder of nation’s future are believed to be the salient partaker in this most important day where everyone is at the same platter. You as a Filipino are bestowed a chance to opt leaders for the nation’s welfare and must not take for granted for you may surrender years of your lives living under someone else’s regime.
When you do not like something or anything in your life, you are but complaining. Likewise, if the government caused you to stop from schooling or could not even bear to see your family rubbing their tummies you would find yourself in a rally. But why yelling on the streets if you can do it on your seat? Not all grievances must be heard on a rally somewhere, sometimes, you should not wait for your complaints to come. Do what you could do as early as you could not as late as you could. Start from the piece of ballot; from single dot subsequently creating lines that would form names of the leaders you would believe in.
Youth comprise bigger percentage in the society. If more people in the youth age vote, the politicians would tend to pay attention to their needs. Hence, why not vote?
Practice your rights. Have the will to vote, and when you have it, move your pen on the right stroke.
There should be no room for apathy anymore, start to care instead. Let your eyes be opened, your ears heard, your mind be broaden and your sense be sensitive.
The battle for the new history is yet to come. Register and choose your combatant.
Have the power.
Vote.

After the hectic preparation of the breath taking and full of exhilaration week so as to lift the program of College of Arts and Sciences even higher on its excellency towards the better learning, instructors and professors at last breathed out. Moreover, if almost everyone thought that only faculty members were busy and astounded them as if “no air” that very moment, head sprint and depleted faces of fourth year Mass Communication poured behind Daluyong – a laboratory newsletter during accreditation week.
We were rushed in making newsletter much like as faculty members who were busy and anxious on AACCUP survey.
Daluyong was on its halfway to successful on first day of release, however many noticed errors that editors did not discerned as well. Disappointment somehow filled the souls of the writers, editors and adviser. The goal of disseminating the subsequent issues was postponed and directly kept consulting the editors instead.
On the other hand, it was not as good as simple to produce such newsletter. We were running out of time on gathering raw information, making the entire news and editing which were not merely easy to do. Perhaps, every one of us forgot to make plans on how would the making of Daluyong would go. As mush as the way we played the so-called “Ako! Ako!”, we didn’t even bother to talked or planned on how we would find the one who is not talking in able to create a line, what we did is the go-with-the-flow means and the result was kapa sa dilim as if no where to go.
I may say this game made me even realized what are the mistakes we did and the lessons we learned. This reflected on our performance during Daluyong making.
Some of us, did not really know much what to accomplish, however, we still failed to remember to ask for some guidance and instructions from the higher (i.e instructors). We became too certain on ourselves reason to let the bira ng bira basta basta system took place while doing our errands. Another thing was giving other members chance to participate within the group. There were qualms on giving trusts to them, somehow, reason why we got into trouble in making newsletter.
Trust is only five-letter word, yet, hard to bestowed to someone easily. But in one way or another we must learn to give it to each other especially when we are belong on a group. The word teamwork defined as a joint action by a group of people, in which each person subordinates his or her individual interests and opinions to the unity and efficiency of the group (NDT Resource center, 010809). Thus, we ought to exploit the essence of this word by giving even just a little trust and chance to members to partake and work.
These experiences thought me to see the little things as much as I see the larger ones because sometimes, the simplest things are the keys to successful; simple things that we easily take for granted. And from that fact of life, I hope from the blunders we did and had during that very week, these would guide me way to be more responsible well being en route for prolific journalists/media practitioner some day.

Newspapers; general magazines and reviews; professional journals and newsletter; news magazines and magazine digests; radio and television --- they all boil down to journalism, the art of writing that clinches every thought and actions that have significance and interest to the people; the root of all what you have seen and read in pieces of paper that you were holding just today.
The division of different categories of Journalism like what I have said earlier brought me in a school of thought that perhaps helped me to find the answer to the question that lingered in my mind. Through this, I had an idea that electronic journalism is still journalism since radio and television are forms of media (one of the category of journalism) so as the Internet and if the former form of media is where journalism used to be applied at, why not apply it by means of Internet?
Yes, journalism on Internet is what we usually call electronic journalism. It is journalism, I believe, for all we knew that it is still form of writing. It may sound unfair for those who dream to become a journalist and yet they found out a fact that everyone can write and thought that they are genuine writers. But which really weighs heavily electronic journalism or the conventional one?
Though everyone could write anything and everything under the sun and could able to post it on any Internet browsers, verities that scare the nerve of every journalist and soon to be journalist, everyone should know that the ways of writing in conventional journalism should be still applied for the reason that it serves as the foundation of writing articles.
But how you will be able to write for internet articles through the ways of writing in conventional journalism? Of course, you have to study basic journalism know the elements, standards and the code of ethics. These were the things that an-internet-writer should consider. Everyone could write and that is an obviously fact. However, not everyone is entitled to become a writer because what you need is the knowledge, guts and ethics. Moreover, writing in a journalistic way is not that easy, you ought to strive hard to have a simple pair of eyes to look at your work.
Thus, the community must prioritize the traditional journalism for they all boils down in here.

Just this past month mobile phone users including Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile filed complaints against National Telecommunication Commission, NTC, due to vanishing of prepaid phone credits few days after loading and unwanted messages that automatically being sent to phone user and gradually charge “illegally” by their network. And now, subscribers’ wish were granted when the NTC released yesterday the new regulatory order that extends the validity period of prepaid mobile phone credits, though their other complaints failed to bestow, still this new order heap praises to the text savvy Pinoys.
Gratitude praise for the TV Patrol and 24 Oras as well as to other news program that aired this breaking news for Pinoy texters. Well, this new rule could be pain reliever to those hearts that sank after texting of important matter and would surprisingly realize that his load gone with the wind without being notice at all.
As I had watched both TV Patrol and 24 Oras with the same news, TV Patrol really knows how to weigh the level of impact of news in able to catch the attention of viewers. They placed the NTC extension of prepaid load validity as the first segment knowing that two billion people with handy dandy phones are concern to this issue. Moreover, as one of these huge numbers of subscriber, they won my attention. The news was delivered with the right amount of information as if they fed me and made my stomach fully loaded of foods that I needed. In TV Patrol News, there was this chart that shown the amount of load and how long does the load valid. ABS-CBN News interviewed several students, who comply big population of cell phone users and according to them it became a welcome relief from the experience of instantly vanishing prepaid load. On the other hand, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile is not yet on satisfaction on this move of NTC. Instead, he still want to make high cost per text message lower.
On the contrary, 24 Oras placed the issue near the ending of the segment, which made me baffled if they set it there for the televiewers to standby on their channel and watch the entire program, or it was just they found the issue less important for the viewers? On their news delivery, they also shown the chart of load and expiration, they also got public views and opinion about the issue were also cited, many agree while some do not especially the load retailers.
When it comes to lightning set up, ABS-CBN always, use the eye-friendly lighting that made their TV Patrol fastidious to watch for. Of course, GMA 7 got this concept of strengthening the colors of their lights not knowing that their set up look peculiar for some viewers, no wonder why 24 Oras could be eye-hurting too.
Upon thinking of the news that I have watched and observed, different mass communication theories popped-up on every neurons of my squashed meat inside of my skull. And these are:
Attitude Change Theory. This theory says that audience are well informed the more active they are; change of attitude depends on information that audience perceives and orient about a particular issue. In this case, audience changed their attitude toward the vanishing load and now they already knew that their load might last longer than the usual, sooner, until July 19, 2009 comes; same as with Sen. Enrile who is not yet contented on what he knew about the failure of NTC to grant the low text message tax.
Social Responsibility Theory. It is the right of people to know what should be done and what are the things to be done by giving them the right information.
Magic Bullet Theory. The news that have been delivered were directly send to the audience and it created powerful effects especially to those mobile phone users.
